Uncategorized Jul 05, 2024

At Goal17, we are thrilled to announce the launch of a groundbreaking Disability Campaigning Mentoring Programme, spearheaded by the remarkable Joshua Reeves BEM. With the dedicated support of our founder, Fran Boorman, Joshua has successfully recruited a passionate group of mentees and is now embarking on a journey to inspire and empower the next generation of disability campaigners.

Joshua Reeves, a distinguished figure in disability advocacy, has been at the forefront of campaigns aimed at breaking down barriers and creating a more inclusive society. His tireless efforts have earned him recognition and respect within the community. Now, with the support of Leonard Cheshire, Joshua is channelling his expertise and experience into a mentoring programme designed to equip individuals with disabilities with the skills and confidence to become effective advocates.

Fran Boorman, the founder of Goal17 Mentoring, has been personally involved in supporting Joshua throughout the establishment of this programme. Her commitment to fostering change and empowering individuals aligns perfectly with Joshua's vision. Together, they have worked tirelessly to create a programme that addresses the unique challenges faced by people with disabilities while nurturing the next wave of advocates.

The Disability Campaigning Mentoring Programme aims to tackle both systemic and everyday barriers faced by people with disabilities. The mentees, guided by Joshua's leadership, have already begun brainstorming impactful initiatives. Some of the ideas brought to the table include improving access to public toilets and removing obstacles that prevent individuals with disabilities from opening bank accounts.

What sets this programme apart is its focus on addressing seemingly smaller issues that can have a profound impact on the daily lives of people with disabilities. By targeting these specific challenges, the programme not only aims to create tangible improvements but also to embed essential advocacy skills in each participant. These skills will enable the mentees to continue driving positive change long after the programme concludes.

"We are honoured to work alongside Joshua and the team at Leonard Cheshire," said Fran Boorman. "Joshua's dedication and passion are truly inspiring, and we believe this programme will make a significant difference in the lives of many individuals. The mentees' enthusiasm and innovative ideas are a testament to the potential for positive change that exists within our communities."

As Joshua and his mentees embark on this exciting journey, we eagerly anticipate the progress and achievements that will emerge from their collaborative efforts. By the end of the year, Joshua hopes that each mentee will have achieved concrete results, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society.

At Goal17, we are committed to supporting initiatives that drive meaningful change and empower individuals to become advocates for their communities. Joshua Reeves' Disability Campaigning Mentoring Programme exemplifies the power of mentorship and the impact that dedicated individuals can have in creating a brighter future for all.

Stay tuned for updates on the inspiring work being done by Joshua and his mentees as they continue to break down barriers and champion the rights of people with disabilities.
